A website dedicated to Parents with Epilepsy!
Starting a family at any time of life is a wonderfully enjoyable yet daunting experience. For those who live with the condition of epilepsy this time in their life can be particularly worrying as they face their time as a parent with added complications that are often overlooked by the rest of society. Fit2bparents is a website designed and set up to address the many issues affecting those who suffer from some form of epilepsy and are preparing to become parents for the first time. We hope to provide a wealth of common sense advice, strategies and product recommendations, as well as links to a range of Epilepsy resources. We are also hoping our visitors will send us their stories of parenting with Epilepsy in their lives.
You could have Grand mal, petit mal, tonic clonic or (my favourite) Complex partial seizures. At the end of the day if you are experiencing seizures, or live with someone that does, and either have a child or are expecting one then the Epilepsy will have given you something else to worry about! Those looking for medical advice on the condition of epilepsy itself may find it useful to visit the links to specific medical epilepsy websites
This site is in its infancy so please be patient. More information will be added and I hope you will keep visiting us, contributing your stories and opinions as the site grows.
The authors would like to point out that many issues and worries faced by parents with epilepsy, upon consideration, apply to those living with other medical conditions, and also to those experiencing pregnancy and parent hood without any added complications. In the end becoming a parent will bring its own challenges for people from all walks of life. People suffering from epilepsy are just as fit to be parents as the next man in the street!
